2013 NHL Entry Draft – #CBJ first round options

As is tradition here at HashtagCBJ, instead of actually working on my own mock draft I decided to take the work other people did and compile it into one list and call it crowd sourcing! Really, though, I don’t have nearly enough free time to look at all the available prospects and try to decide who we might take so I’ve scoured the web for mock drafts and put together a list of 31 different drafts. I noted who each mock draft had the #CBJ taking at picks 14, 19 and 27 and decided to compile them into a list of the top selections for each pick:

Update: In case you wanted to see the list broken down by player/slot/source here’s a link to a spreadsheet with all of the drafts.

14th overall pick:

There was quite a bit of variance here and a lot of teams had the CBJ taking guys projected to go in the 20-30 range at #14. Many of those happened to be from Sweden or Finland… hmmm…

Out of 31 different mock drafts there were only 13 unique prospects listed in this slot for the CBJ, here are the most common:

1-t: Alexander Wennberg (SWE) – C (4)

1-t: Anthony Mantha (QMJHL) – RW (4)

2-t: Bo Horvat (OHL) – C/LW (3)

2-t: Hunter Shinkaruk (WHL) – C/RW (3)

2-t: Max Domi (OHL) – C (3)

2-t: Rasmus Ristolainen (FIN) – D (3)

2-t: Ryan Pulock (WHL) – D (3)

2-t: Mirco Mueller (WHL) – D (4)

3-t: Andre Burakovsky (SWE) – LW/RW (3)

3-t: Josh Morrissey (WHL) – D (3)

27th overall pick:

15 different names showed up on this list but there two standouts and one guy that makes an appearance from the #19 pick list as well

1. Ryan Hartman (OHL) – RW (6)

2. Morgan Klimchuk (WHL) – RW (5)

3. Valentin Zykov (QMJHL) – LW (4)

4-t: Curtis Lazar (WHL) – C/RW (2)

4-t: Mirco Mueller (WHL) – D (2)

4-t: Robert Hagg (SWE-JR) – D (2)
